Litigation
Representation in civil proceedings before the courts of Sarawak, including the conduct of trials, interlocutory applications and appeals.
What this covers
Civil litigation is the conduct of a dispute through the courts: the pleadings that define it, the interlocutory applications that shape it, the trial that decides it, and any appeal that follows.
Most matters do not reach trial. Part of the work is advising, early and honestly, on whether a claim is worth bringing at all, and on what it is likely to cost in time and money before it is resolved.
Before you write
Two things are worth knowing at the outset.
Time limits apply. Most civil claims must be brought within a fixed period, and a claim brought late is usually lost however strong it is. If something has already happened, it is better to ask early than to wait.
Do not send confidential papers yet. Before we can act, we must check that acting for you does not conflict with an existing client. Tell us the outline; keep the documents until we have confirmed we can take the matter on.
